Smart ways of recovering deleted MS Exchange mailboxes of a network


EDB file or primary Exchange database is main component of the Exchange information store. Besides EDB file, an Exchange information store or folder also consists of Transaction log and checkpoint files. Exchange information store of the old MS Exchange version consists of three file components i.e., EDB, STM and Transaction logs. EDB file is vital for smooth functioning of MS Exchange Server. However, normal email activities in the MS Exchange organization cannot be ensured all time due to EDB file corruption. Accidental mailbox deletion is one of the major reasons of EDB file corruption.


When user deletes an Exchange account of a network, it is disconnected from Exchange Server and gets stored in the offline EDB file for 30 days period. It is also known as mailbox retention policy of MS Exchange Server and helps IT administrator in recovering all accidentally deleted Exchange accounts within 30 days of the mailbox deletion. After expiry of Exchange mailbox retention period, deleted Exchange accounts are permanently removed from MS Exchange Server.

In such cases, you need to use a third party offline EDB to PST converter.
